Despite being recognised worldwide as a “commercial discovery” to make men buy gifts, flowers, chocolate for their loved girlfriends, fiancés, wives and so on… I do like the sweet atmosphere of Valentine’s day, I do believe in love, I do like the idea of Cupid with his arc and arrows so please, despite I terribly miss Baci Perugina (traditional Italian chocolate filled with hazelnuts and a love note with its wrapping, translated badly in Italian, English, French, German, Greek, Spanish, or Portuguese, very hard to find in the Kingdom) let me enjoy the romance of the 14th February with my sweet husband, but like me, I am sure lots of women will have a special request for their partners this Valentine’s day: “Please take me to the cinema to watch 50 Shades of Grey!“.
Yes guys the famous sex/love story/erotic trilogy written by British author E.L. James is coming on the screen worldwide on the 14th February 2015, could have they chosen a better day for it? Of course not, women are going into frenzy after reading the 50 shades saga, but I am not sure men will be as thrilled to be dragged to the cinema for this movie.
Of course when during the summer 2012 the books hit the shelves in the local bookstore I couldn’t resist to order the first book to read it myself, I am that sort of person that “wants to see what all the fuss is all about”, like I did back in 2003 for the Da Vinci code by Dan Brown, more for curiosity than anything else.
And of course within a few pages of 50 Shades of Grey I had to order straight away 50 Shades darker and 50 Shades freed, waiting for my postman like a child waiting for Santa on Christmas night…I was seriously hooked up and I was really disappointed when within two weeks I finished all my three books, what now???
Unfortunately I am one of these people who prefer to read a book than see the movie adaptation but of course, when I heard that they were going to make a movie out of the trilogy, I thought, great…despite being seriously disappointed by the choice of actors for the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steel, in my mind reading the books Christian Grey should have been Ryan Gosling and for Anastasia…well not being rude to the daughter of two movie icons like Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, but they could have chosen somebody looking less…nerdy, if you allow me to say.
Anyway apart my mental paranoid about who should play who, I sealed a deal with my husband: we will be in Miami over Valentine’s day and I have agreed to two days at the Miami boat show…but maybe on the 15th or 16th he has to take me to the theatre to see the movie, I have tried to sell him the movie as a soft porn, every men in this world should be happy about this. So this Valentine’s day dear men, boyfriends, future husbands and husbands, please buy some chocolate, flowers….and two cinema tickets, your girlfriends, fiancés’ and wives will be grateful forever!
